Kids4Kids Creative Workshop

Kids 4 Kids Hong Kong - Creative Workshop for 150 art students

I have the good fortune of close friends in far-away places. Ten years ago, my best friend from sleep-away camp moved to Hong Kong. Six years ago, he set me up with my wife. And this year, he introduced me to Michele Lai, Founder of Kids4Kids HK.

Kids4Kids’ mission is to help all young people find their voice and make an impact on vital community issues. I was asked to serve as keynote speaker and lead the Kids4Kids Youth Forum Creative Workshop.

Held at the Singapore International School, the Kids4Kids Youth Forum provided a dynamic, nurturing environment. Co-sponsored by SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design), the event was attended by over 150 kids, ages 12 - 17.

The winning teams received Summer scholarships to SCAD and $1,000 to execute their proposals. The enthusiasm was uncontainable as students buzzed around and organized into three creative workshop studios; Ideation, Pitch Training and Visual Storytelling.

I bounced from table to table, helping the kids organize their presentations (ranging from Sustainability to Ethnic Migration in HK (“Hong Kong: Home for Everyone”) and construct storyboards and visuals. Watching the students rally around a campaign and then bring it to life was as rewarding as any project I’ve worked on.
